ABOUT US

Our Mission

Our mission is to set a new benchmark in Bermuda's education sector, imparting vital knowledge often overlooked by traditional learning systems.

We aim to equip young individuals for their futures, nurturing their aspirations through innovative and affordable educational solutions, all while actively addressing and challenging societal inequalities of opportunity.

Our Philosophy

At Loquat Learning, our philosophy is rooted in four foundational pillars of education: language literacy, financial literacy, emotional literacy, and health.

By integrating these pillars across all learning subjects, we aim to educate students about the real life applications of academic subjects and foster lifelong learning.

Educational Pillars

Our Approach

We believe that all education should be:

  • Fun

Children should want to come back to class, study and use what they learn in real life.

  • Convenient

No one's child should be disadvantaged because of trivial problems like time or transportation - we want to meet families where, when and how they need us.

  • Practical

We only have a few short years to teach children all we can. Let's teach our kids real skills and show them how they can be used.

Why we’re here

A message from our founder, Evan Heyliger

The seeds of Loquat Learning were sowed in 2016, in Argentina, , through cultural immersion and educational exchange. Dropped from a plane into a new culture, language and social structure, I had a steep learning curve ahead. Despite being blessed with an excellent education, I was not prepared for life beyond what I already knew. In Argentina, I learned the importance of relationships, conflict resolution, intercultural communication, and healthy stress management, subjects not covered in any school textbook.

After leaving Argentina, I spent two years studying in Spain where I discovered the value of mindfulness and self-awareness. I learned the hard way the need for financial decision-making and time management skills. The more I pondered these necessary skills for success, the more I questioned why they were never mentioned in 13 years of education. Thus, Loquat Learning was born.

My mission is to ensure that today’s children have a supplement to traditional education. That there is a way for them to learn and develop the essential life skills I wish I’d been prepared with. I have a vision for what the future of education could be, so let’s build it together. Loquat Learning was started to give you and your child a better alternative, and peace of mind knowing they’re on the right track.
